Dunsfold Drive-Ins A Runaway Success

Wednesday, 07 April 2010

Dunsfold Parks first ever Drive-In cinema was a big success with crowds flocking to see six classic films over the Easter weekend.

A huge 20m x 10m screen was hoisted by crane on the aerodrome’s main runway, whilst a dedicated FM frequency delivered the movie soundtrack straight to cars.

Wet weather was no deterrent as a host of Grease enthusiasts arrived in their fabulous classic American cars, dressed the part and in full voice as they danced and sang around their cars to ‘Grease Lightning’ and ‘You’re the one that I want’.

Kids in pyjamas snuggled up with parents on Sunday to enjoy Disney classic Finding Nemo and cult Tarantino film, Pulp Fiction, proved the most popular with the biggest crowd of the weekend.

The drive-in crowd were also a generous one as the Red Cross cleaned up more than £400 in donations as they washed windscreens and guaranteed film goers a perfect, clean view.

Nancy Edwards, Dunsfold Drive-In Manager comments: “The Drive-In was a huge hit and we’ve been bowled over by the sheer enthusiasm and volume of fantastic comments we have received. People really got into the spirit of the movies they watched and it was great to see people having such a good time as they let loose and danced and sang to their favourite movies. There is overwhelming support for us to do this again, so watch this space!”
