High Court Rejects POW & CPRE Judicial Reviews

Monday, 05 November 2018

Today, Monday 5 November, Deputy High Court Judge Nathalie Lieven QC handed down her judgement rejecting two challenges by POW and CPRE, which were seeking to quash both the adoption of Waverley’s Local Plan and the grant of planning permission to build 1,800 homes at Dunsfold Park.

Dunsfold Aerodrome is the largest brownfield site in Waverley and is allocated for residential development of up to 2,600 homes in Waverley Borough’s Local Plan, which was adopted earlier this year. On 29 March 2018 the Secretary of State approved plans to build 1,800 homes on the aerodrome, following a Public Inquiry held in the summer which culminated in a positive recommendation from his inspector, Phillip Major.

Commenting, Dunsfold Park CEO Jim McAllister said:

“We are pleased with the Judgement handed down by the High Court today, and for the very careful consideration of the Judge of all the matters raised in this case. The development of Dunsfold Aerodrome will provide homes for all sections of the community, create new jobs, deliver a range of new community facilities together with infrastructure improvements. We look forward to working with Waverley Borough Council and the local community to progress the detail in due course.”
