On this occasion the popularity of the charity car show exceeded the Surrey Street Rodders' expectations and this caused congestion on the surrounding roads.
A Surrey Street Rodders' spokesperson comments:
"We would like to apologise to those who were caught in traffic congestion on the surrounding roads and to those who did not make it into the show, we were simply overwhelmed with the volume of people who turned up. Inevitably, with this level of success, no matter how careful and forward thinking the initial planning, there are areas that require us to build and improve on.
We would like to extend our thanks to the team at Dunsfold Park for assisting us at short notice to help resolve the issues we faced. The event is organised to raise funds for local charities and we hope that, in spite of the challenges we faced, we will have raised a significant sum of money for charity. "
A Dunsfold Park spokesperson comments:
"This was the first time Dunsfold Park hosted the Surrey Street Rodders Wheels Day and we would like to apologise to anyone who was inconvenienced by increased traffic on the surrounding roads. The organisers were overwhelmed by the sheer volume of people that attended on the day and whilst we supported them to the best of our limited abilities on the day, we will be reviewing the event with them in the coming weeks to ensure this does not happen again in the future."
