Fire Cuts Concern For Aerodrome

Thursday, 24 February 2011

Dunsfold Park Ltd raised concerns this week over planned fire service cuts which would leave the Aerodrome without any emergency daytime cover.

Jim McAllister, Chief Executive, Dunsfold Park Ltd. comments: "Emergency services are of fundamental importance for any aerodrome and for the Surrey Fire and Rescue Service to have consulted on local cuts without reference to Dunsfold Aerodrome seems to us a very significant mistake. We regularly hold major incident training scenarios at the aerodrome for all the emergency services which highlights for us just how vital they would be as our aviation uses increase. These cuts are putting lives at risk, not only in our local communities but for businesses and aviators at Dunsfold Park. We would urge the county's Fire and Rescue Service to rethink reforms, stop plans to reduce Cranleigh's pumps and halt the axe of Dunsfold's fire station."
