Last year’s Tour Series Final attracted 15,000 spectators to the town, which in 2011 will play host to the penultimate leg of the Halfords Tour Series 2011.
From 11am through to midnight on the day of the race, key routes into and around the town will be closed to motor vehicles and diversions put in place, so that the streets of Woking Town Centre can be converted into a high-speed, professional race circuit.
In the lead up to the Olympic cycle road race test event on Sunday 14 August 2011, The Tour Series promises to be one of the biggest sporting events to take place in the area during 2011.
Jim McAllister, Chief Executive, Dunsfold Park Ltd, comments: “With the Olympics only a year away it is vital that local businesses support events such as The Tour Series as they continue to raise the profile of sport and encourage communities to become more active. At Dunsfold Park we host cycling events all year round and are very proud to extend this and be a part of a global cycling event on our doorstep.”
