Dunsfold Park was delighted to bear witness to the Vimy's final flight as it departed for the last time from the aerodrome before taking up permanent residents at Brooklands Museum in Weybridge.
Crowds gathered to film and photograph the historic flight, including owner of the aerodrome Jim McAllister who comments:
“The Vimy has been a regular sight at Dunsfold Park over the years and so it was with great sadness we watched it perform its last flight from Dunsfold to its final resting place at Brooklands Museum on Sunday. We are one of the privileged few to have had the pleasure of including the Vimy in our air display at Wings & Wheels and watch its various impromptu fights across the Dunsfold skies. It’s important that we preserve our aviation history and it’s great that Brooklands Museum is taking the necessary steps to preserve the Vimy for prosperity.”
